'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting closing stages of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith picking up a spectator's eyewear following the on-field celebration.

During the final moments of stoppage time, Galbraith cracked the upright with a long-range effort from outside the box, and the defender promptly hammered in the loose ball before racing off toward the East Stand to revel in the moment, with the crowd swarming the players.

Remarkable Recovery

This completed an extraordinary recovery given the Welsh side had been behind 2-0 midway through the final 45 minutes. Amid the celebrations, there was some collateral damage. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and Josh Key and I were wondering: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a funny incident putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Manchester City Challenge

The result booked a fourth-round fixture at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a club Galbraith ran close at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had arguably the best view when the underdogs took the lead in stunning style, with a teammate's volley from about way out going in via the woodwork and the Stefan Ortega. Many argued that it was recorded as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've given it to him for having a go from that range," says Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after Orient changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the City players who praised the way Orient approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Fitness-wise they are very good but even the simple things and simple things, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It seems as if they never miss a pass and they know how to control and slow down a game. You can think you're holding your own and then abruptly they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even spotting it. You have to be alert every second of the game. It takes a resilient mindset and attention just to keep pace."

New Chapter

The club were keen on Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a seven-figure transfer. He became a favorite as a crowd pleaser across two seasons at Orient and has quickly achieved similar status in his new home. At his previous team he joined forces once more with Richie Wellens, who earlier gave Galbraith his first extended run in professional games on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a loan at lower division Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Growth Journey

"I was probably a somewhat inexperienced going into men's football. I think a lot of players would say under-23s football is very different. Sometimes it appears possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many tackles or duels. Once you start playing men's games you have to adapt rapidly."

Country Call-ups

His progress reflects that maturation for both domestically and internationally, shining for his national side, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the qualifying rounds and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including both legs games against Germany. The ex-coach, Galbraith's previous international manager, offered the supreme accolade, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his ability to spot a decisive through ball.

Early Days

This marks an incredible journey for the kid from the local area in his hometown, just outside Belfast, who was raised observing his dad, the elder Galbraith, also a midfielder, play for his father's team.

Old Trafford Memory

The player's only game for United came in Kazakhstan in 2019, a continental tournament trip to the Kazakh capital, where they played on an plastic turf and the arena covering was sealed owing to temperatures of bitter cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was cold out there," he recalls, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I practiced as a group, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was amazing."

Departing Old Trafford

How hard was it to move on from Old Trafford, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged his mid-teens? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I got to the stage where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm very appreciative for the experience gained but it became apparent where I thought I had to take a different path, join a smaller club and play professional soccer. Now I'm gradually progressing again."

Life in Swansea

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a road rules assessment, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's so-called player transport, a small coach driven by club employees, the drivers, which transports players to and from training and matches.

"It's myself Gonçalo Franco, Ronald, Malick Yalcouyé – a former passenger used to be in it but has got his license. It's enjoyable to spend time with the teammates but I'm hoping to be the subsequent individual to drive independently and driving. Franco is known for his humor; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at his former club, Galbraith would blend in with followers on the Tube after commuting at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
